Calbee, Inc. announces the first anniversary of its Tokyo souvenir snack, Tokyo Moon Potato Sea Salt & Butter Flavor, made from crescent-shaped potato slices. To celebrate, a giveaway campaign will be held on Calbee’s official social media channels starting Friday, December 5, 2025, coinciding with the full moon known as the “Cold Moon.”
Tokyo Moon Potato was launched on December 3, 2024, as a new Tokyo souvenir developed over approximately 18 months. With rising inbound tourism and renewed demand for local gifts, the product has performed strongly, ranking first in sales at the Calbee Plus Tokyo Station store and exceeding planned sales by more than 20% from April to July 2025.
To express gratitude to customers, Calbee will conduct a special gift campaign. On X (Twitter), participants can enter by following the official account and reposting the campaign post for a chance to win a box of Tokyo Moon Potato and a box of Jagabee Tokyo Curry Flavor. On Instagram, users can enter by commenting with a designated hashtag for a chance to win two boxes of Tokyo Moon Potato. Each platform will award prizes to 12 winners.
Tokyo Moon Potato features thick, crescent-cut domestic potatoes fried with Calbee’s proprietary method for a crispy, flaky texture. The snack is seasoned with sea salt sourced from Tokyo’s Oshima area and enriched with butter to highlight the potato’s natural flavor. The package design, created by textile designer Masaru Suzuki, showcases iconic Tokyo scenery to emphasize its identity as a Tokyo souvenir.
