A new £20,000 prize is being launched to spark innovation in food, farming, and health systems. Open to farmers, entrepreneurs, social enterprises, and individuals, the prize encourages bold ideas that reimagine how we grow, distribute, and eat food.
The Food System Prize is backed by Regen Gathering Jersey and judged by a panel including environmentalist Ben Goldsmith, Patrick Holden CBE of the Sustainable Food Trust, Josiah Meldrum from Hodmedod, and regenerative farmer Abby Rose.
“We want to empower communities and improve long-term health outcomes by supporting fresh ideas,” said co-founder India Hamilton. “This prize is about building healthy, resilient food systems that work for people and the planet.”
The £20,000 prize includes £15,000 in cash and £5,000 in branding, design, and mentorship support. An additional £5,000 is reserved for entries from the Crown Dependencies.
“Combining ancient farming wisdom with modern tools like soil sensors and no-till offers a pathway to landscapes that are more productive, resilient—and joyful,” said Ben Goldsmith.
Entries are open to anyone with an idea or existing project that improves soil health, supply chains, community nutrition, or sustainable agriculture. Applications close 25th October 2025, with the winner announced at the Jersey Farming Conference in November.
Regen Gathering 2025, where the prize will be celebrated, brings together farmers, chefs, health professionals, and changemakers who share a passion for food rooted in soil, health, and community.
