Redland has announced the acquisition of exclusive marketing rights for Dorì Gold kiwifruit grown in Australia, following a new agreement with Dori Australia. The Dorì program includes six premium growers—five based in Western Australia and one in Victoria—who together have planted 63 hectares to date, with expansion plans toward 150 hectares by full maturity in 2030. This strategic move reinforces Redland’s commitment to delivering the most desired premium fruit brands and provides Australian retailers with first access to a high-performing, early maturing gold kiwifruit that fills a critical seasonal gap in supermarket supply.
Dorì is the commercial brand of the yellow-fleshed actinidia variety AC 1536, developed through research at the University of Udine and the University of Bologna in Italy. Jordan Bain, Redland’s Head of Sales & Marketing, explains that it is an early-maturing variety, ready in February, presenting a beautiful and bright gold piece of fruit with unmistakable flavour. Its timing makes Dorì a perfect fit for the existing gap in retail supply when no gold kiwifruit is available in the Australian market. With its February maturity, Dorì ensures uninterrupted gold kiwifruit supply at the exact moment retailers need it most, unlocking significant incremental sales, strengthening shopper loyalty and driving continuous growth in one of fresh produce’s fastest-rising premium categories.
Redland’s strategic pillars of quality and innovation for long-term category growth are strongly aligned with the Dorì program. For retailers, this acquisition delivers a season-extending gold kiwifruit solution by filling the critical early-season opportunity before other gold kiwifruit varieties enter the market. It provides consistency across the category, greater shelf presence and reduced out-of-stock risk during a period of high demand. The fruit is grown by leading Australian growers under modern horticulture systems, with each piece nurtured by hand, and is supported by Redland’s rigorous quality control practices, advanced packing facilities and long-term investment in crop protection, technology and sustainability.
Retailers also gain the advantage of partnering with a trusted Australian supply source. The fruit is 100% Australian owned and grown, supported by a long-term national supply plan that will mature to 150 hectares by 2030 and offer greater security of supply. Strong brand-building support will accompany the program, reflecting Redland’s reputation for really beautiful fruit and standout shelf appeal.
Dorì offers an early, exclusive and locally grown option—an uncommon combination that cannot be matched by imported lines at this time of year. Its unmistakable flavour and bright, premium appearance encourage strong repeat purchasing. It presents a unique opportunity for category growth, delivering strong commercial outcomes and capturing new revenue by meeting a clear unmet need in the market. Every aspect of the program is backed by the Redland promise: consistency, exceptional quality and close collaboration with retail partners.
Redland continues to focus on producing and marketing the world’s most desired premium fruit brands. Through extensive investment in quality, innovation, people and long-term sustainability, the company delivers the best fruit money can buy—consistently, responsibly and with pride in every harvest.
