Calbee Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of two new regional flavors under its popular Jagabee line, further expanding its portfolio of Japan-exclusive souvenir snacks.
The new variants — Jagabee Setouchi Lemon Flavor and Jagabee Spicy Island Chili Pepper Flavor — will be available from April 6, 2026, in select regional souvenir outlets. The Setouchi Lemon flavor will be sold across the Chugoku and Shikoku regions, while the Spicy Island Chili Pepper flavor will be exclusive to Okinawa.
The Setouchi Lemon variant features lemon peel powder made entirely from locally sourced Setouchi lemons, delivering a balance of refreshing citrus aroma, mild acidity, and a subtle bitterness. A hint of black pepper adds a light spice, enhancing the natural taste of the potatoes.
Meanwhile, the Okinawa-exclusive Spicy Island Chili Pepper flavor incorporates locally sourced island chili peppers, combined with savory notes of garlic and chicken. The result is a bold, spicy profile designed to appeal particularly to younger consumers seeking more intense flavors.
First introduced in 2006, Jagabee has built a strong following for its distinctive texture, made by using whole potatoes with the skin on to create a crispy yet fluffy bite. The brand has since expanded with a variety of flavors and regional offerings tailored to local tastes across Japan.
With these new additions, Calbee continues its strategy of developing region-specific products that highlight local ingredients and culinary identities, reinforcing Jagabee’s position as a popular souvenir snack across the country.
